Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about Amazon organic compliance, our audit process, and USDA requirements.
Amazon Compliance
Yes. The USDA's National Organic Program treats your Amazon listing as a label. Your title, bullet points, A+ content, descriptions, and even backend keywords are subject to NOP labeling regulations under 7 CFR 205. Any organic claim that doesn't match your certificate scope is a potential violation.
Yes. Competitors, consumers, and Amazon's own compliance team can flag organic claim violations. Reports can trigger listing reviews, ASIN suppression, or full account-level investigations. Proactive compliance is the best defense.
Amazon's system can automatically suppress listings when certificates expire. We track certificate expiration dates and alert you at 30, 60, and 90 days before expiration so you can coordinate renewal with your certifying agent.
If you repackage, relabel, or handle organic products before sending to FBA, you may need handler certification in addition to your product certification. Amazon's enforcement of this requirement is tightening. Our audit identifies whether handler certification is needed for your specific operations.
Audit Process
Single ASIN audits are completed within 48 hours. Catalog-scale audits (25+ products) typically take 5-7 business days. Every audit includes proprietary automated scanning plus manual expert verification.
A prioritized list of compliance findings with exact regulatory citations (7 CFR 205 section references), risk scores, certificate-to-ASIN match status, and specific language rewrites for every non-compliant claim. You get a step-by-step remediation plan, not a generic compliance warning.
Traditional consultants audit your products and labels. We audit your Amazon listings — your titles, bullets, A+ content, backend keywords, and certificate scope matching. No traditional compliance consultant understands Amazon Seller Central. No Amazon agency understands 7 CFR 205. We bridge both.
USDA Requirements
Yes. Amazon requires a valid USDA organic certificate for any product making organic claims. Amazon cross-references uploaded certificates against the USDA Organic Integrity Database. Listings without valid certificates face ASIN suppression or account suspension.
USDA civil penalties can reach $11,000 per violation. Criminal fraud carries up to $100,000 in fines and 5 years imprisonment. Beyond federal penalties, you face FTC enforcement, competitor Lanham Act lawsuits, Amazon account suspension, and state attorney general actions.
The Strengthening Organic Enforcement rule, effective March 2024, expanded certification requirements to brokers, traders, and online intermediaries. If you import organic products or act as an intermediary in the organic supply chain, the SOE rule likely applies to you.
